Not as an angel
A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt
I stand here before you
not as an angel
to hand you my offer
for you to refuse.
It is written in my best hand
from pens left on the bus
on coffee stained paper
but the words are clear.
My intent bulletpointed for clarity
leaving nothing to chance
with no room for misunderstanding
written too hastily for revision.
My honesty is my downward spiral
in a moment of pure admiration
held out before you tonight
wanting your immediate approval.
